Lateefah Simon, a nationally recognized advocate for civil rights and racial justice who has received numerous awards for her work, including a MacArthur “genius” Fellowship, is President of the Akonadi Foundation, which supports and nurtures racial justice movement building. In 2016 Lateefah was elected to serve District 7 on the BART Board of Directors and was also appointed to the California State University’s Board of Trustees.
