Eda Elsa Zavala Lopez
Eda Elsa Zavala Lopez, of Wari-Ashaninka ancestry, inherited ancient knowledge from her ancestors and followed the traditions of Indigenous elders from the Andean highlands and the Amazon during her nearly 30-year training to become a shaman and healer/curandera. A spiritual leader in the Shawi-San Martin villages and an environmental activist defending her people's territories, she travels and teaches widely. Eda was awarded the Peruvian Ministry of the Environment's National Environmental Award in 2015 for protecting Indigenous territories.
